1) pH
Acide faible : \(\text{pH}=\frac12(\text pK_A-\log C)=\frac12(4{,}19-\log 0{,}02)=\frac12(4{,}19+1{,}70)=2{,}9\).
2) Vérification
\([\text H_3\text O^+]=10^{-2,9}=1{,}3\cdot10^{-3}\) mol/L, à comparer à \(C=2\cdot10^{-2}\) : taux de dissociation \(\alpha=\frac{1{,}3\cdot10^{-3}}{2\cdot10^{-2}}=6{,}5\%<10\%\).
Préparer 500 mL de tampon \(\text{pH}=5{,}0\), concentration totale \(C=0{,}20\) mol/L, avec le couple acide éthanoïque/éthanoate (\(\text pK_A=4{,}75\)).
1) Rapport des formes (Henderson)
\(\log\frac{[\text A^-]}{[\text{AH}]}=\text{pH}-\text pK_A=0{,}25\Rightarrow\frac{[\text A^-]}{[\text{AH}]}=10^{0,25}=1{,}78\).
2) Concentrations
\([\text{AH}]+[\text A^-]=0{,}20\) et \([\text A^-]=1{,}78[\text{AH}]\Rightarrow[\text{AH}](1+1{,}78)=0{,}20\Rightarrow [\text{AH}]=0{,}072\) mol/L, \([\text A^-]=0{,}128\) mol/L.
3) Quantités dans 500 mL
On titre \(V_A=20\) mL d'acide propanoïque (\(\text pK_A=4{,}87\)), \(C_A=0{,}10\) mol/L, par la soude \(C_B=0{,}10\) mol/L. Volume et pH à l'équivalence ?
1) Volume équivalent
\(C_AV_A=C_BV_{eq}\Rightarrow V_{eq}=\frac{0{,}10\times20}{0{,}10}=20\) mL.
Concentration : \(c=\frac{C_AV_A}{V_A+V_{eq}}=\frac{0{,}10\times20}{40}=0{,}050\) mol/L. Base faible : \(\text{pH}=7+\frac12(\text pK_A+\log c)=7+\frac12(4{,}87-1{,}30)=8{,}8\).

Partie A — Révisions
6) Avancement volumique (\(V=50\) mL)

EC1 — Avancement
Tableau d'avancement (sens de recombinaison), \([\text H_3\text O^+][\text{HO}^-]=K_e=10^{-14}\) : \((5\cdot10^{-2}-x)(5\cdot10^{-4}-x)=10^{-14}\). En négligeant \(10^{-14}\) : \(x=5\cdot10^{-4}\) mol/L (réactif limitant \(\text{HO}^-\)). La réaction est quasi-totale.

EC 4 — Équilibres de Brønsted
Forme générale \(\text{AH}+\text H_2\text O=\text A^-+\text H_3\text O^+\), \(K_A=\frac{[\text A^-][\text H_3\text O^+]}{[\text{AH}]}\).

NaOH 2,0 g / 500 mL : \([\text{HO}^-]=\frac{2/40}{0{,}5}=0{,}10\Rightarrow\text{pH}=13\). Eau de chaux (CaO, sat. 1,65 g/L, \(M=56{,}1\)) : \([\text{HO}^-]=2\times0{,}0294\Rightarrow \text{pH}=12{,}8\), donc \(\text{pH}\in[7\,;\,12{,}8]\).
EC 8 — Diacide fort neutralisé

EC 12 — Acide phosphorique \(\text H_3\text{PO}_4\) (triacide)
Espèces : \(\text H_3\text{PO}_4\) ; \(\text H_2\text{PO}_4^-\) ; \(\text{HPO}_4^{2-}\) ; \(\text{PO}_4^{3-}\).
EC 13 — Acide oxalique \(\text H_2\text C_2\text O_4\) (diacide)
Espèces : \(\text H_2\text C_2\text O_4\) ; \(\text{HC}_2\text O_4^-\) ; \(\text C_2\text O_4^{2-}\).
EC 14 — Ammoniac (base faible, \(\text pK_A=9{,}24\), \(C=0{,}50\))
\(\text{pH}=7+\frac12(\text pK_A+\log C)=7+\frac12(9{,}24-0{,}30)=11{,}47\).
EC 15 — Vinaigre (\(\text{CH}_3\text{COOH}\), \(\text pK_A=4{,}8\), \(C=0{,}50\))
\(\text{pH}=\frac12(\text pK_A-\log C)=2{,}55\).
\(\text{CH}_3\text{COONa}\to\text{CH}_3\text{COO}^-+\text{Na}^+\) (Na⁺ spectateur, éthanoate = base). \(\text{pH}=7+\frac12(4{,}8-1)=8{,}9\).
Ex 10 — Acide faible : \(\text{pH}=\frac12(\text pK_A-\log C)\)
\(K_A=\frac{[\text H_3\text O^+][\text A^-]}{[\text{AH}]}\). En négligeant \([\text H_3\text O^+]_{ini}\) : \([\text A^-]=[\text H_3\text O^+]\), donc \([\text H_3\text O^+]=\sqrt{[\text{AH}]K_A}\). Dissociation faible : \(C\approx[\text{AH}]\), d'où \([\text H_3\text O^+]=\sqrt{CK_A}\) et en prenant \(-\log\) : \(\text{pH}=\frac12(\text pK_A-\log C)\).
Ex 11 — Base faible : \(\text{pH}=7+\frac12(\text pK_A+\log C)\)
\(\text B+\text H_2\text O=\text{BH}^++\text{HO}^-\), \([\text{BH}^+]=[\text{HO}^-]=\frac{K_e}{[\text H_3\text O^+]}\). En injectant dans \(K_A=\frac{[\text H_3\text O^+][\text B]}{[\text{BH}^+]}\) avec \([\text B]\approx C\) : \([\text H_3\text O^+]=\sqrt{\frac{K_eK_A}{C}}\), d'où \(\text{pH}=7+\frac12(\text pK_A+\log C)\).
Ex 12 — Amphotère : \(\text{pH}=\frac12(\text pK_{A1}+\text pK_{A2})\)
Conservation \(C=[\text{AH}_2]+[\text{AH}^-]+[\text A^{2-}]\) et électroneutralité. En négligeant \([\text{HO}^-]\) et \([\text H_3\text O^+]\), on obtient \([\text A^{2-}]=[\text{AH}_2]\). Les deux \(K_A\) donnent \([\text H_3\text O^+]^2=K_{A1}K_{A2}\), d'où le résultat (indépendant de \(C\)).

Pour \(C=0{,}020\) à \(\text{pH}=7\) : \([\text C_5\text H_5\text{NH}^+]=\frac{C}{10^{\text{pH}-\text pK_A}+1}=3{,}3\cdot10^{-4}\) mol/L, \([\text C_5\text H_5\text N]=1{,}97\cdot10^{-2}\) mol/L.

Le H₃O⁺ de HCl consomme la base : \(n_B=10^{-2}-2{,}5\cdot10^{-3}=7{,}5\cdot10^{-3}\), \(n_A=3\cdot10^{-2}+2{,}5\cdot10^{-3}=3{,}25\cdot10^{-2}\). \(\text{pH}=9{,}24+\log\frac{7{,}5\cdot10^{-3}}{3{,}25\cdot10^{-2}}=8{,}6\Rightarrow[\text H_3\text O^+]=2{,}5\cdot10^{-9}\). \(Q=K_A=5{,}8\cdot10^{-10}\) : le mélange est à l'équilibre.

Constante de \(\text{BH}^++\text{HO}^-=\text B+\text H_2\text O\) : \(K=\frac{K_A}{K_e}=\frac{10^{-10,64}}{10^{-14}}=2{,}3\cdot10^{3}\). \(Q_i=\frac{0{,}02}{0{,}01\times0{,}002}=10^{3}\) : facteur 2 de \(K\), presque à l'équilibre.

\(\%(\text{AH}_2)=\frac{1}{1+10^{\text{pH}-\text pK_{A1}}+10^{2\text{pH}-\text pK_{A1}-\text pK_{A2}}}\), et de même pour \(\text{AH}^-\) (terme central) et \(\text A^{2-}\). Trois cloches successives sur l'axe des pH (avec \(\text pK_{A1}=3\), \(\text pK_{A2}=10\)).
Partie I — Solutions tampons
Ex 17 — Quantité notable
10 % de chaque forme ⇔ \(\text pK_A-1<\text{pH}<\text pK_A+1\). Vérification Henderson : \(\text{pH}=\text pK_A+\log\frac{0{,}1}{0{,}9}=\text pK_A-0{,}95\) (et symétrique \(+0{,}95\)).
Ex 18 — Résistance à la dilution
En diluant, \([\text A^-]\) et \([\text{AH}]\) sont multipliés par le même facteur \(V_i/V_f\) : \(\text{pH}=\text pK_A+\log\frac{[\text A^-]_i(V_i/V_f)}{[\text{AH}]_i(V_i/V_f)}=\text pK_A+\log\frac{[\text A^-]_i}{[\text{AH}]_i}\) inchangé.
EC 25 — Choix qualitatif
EC 26 — Quantitatif (250 mL, \(\text{pH}=4{,}0\), \(C=0{,}10\), \(\text pK_A=4{,}75\))
\([\text{CH}_3\text{COOH}]=\frac{C}{1+10^{\text{pH}-\text pK_A}}=\frac{0{,}10}{1+10^{-0,75}}=0{,}085\) mol/L, \([\text{CH}_3\text{COO}^-]=0{,}015\) mol/L. Masses (M = 60 et 82 g/mol) : \(m_{acide}=0{,}085\times0{,}25\times60=1{,}3\) g, \(m_{base}=0{,}015\times0{,}25\times82\approx0{,}31\) g.
EC 27 — Méthode (ammoniac \(\text pK_A=9{,}3\), \(C=0{,}10\), \(\text{pH}=9{,}0\))
\([\text{NH}_4^+]=\frac{C}{1+10^{\text{pH}-\text pK_A}}\) : à pH 9,0 → \(0{,}067\) ; pH 8,0 → \(0{,}095\) ; pH 10,0 → \(0{,}017\) mol/L (et \([\text{NH}_3]=C-[\text{NH}_4^+]\)). Par tableau d'avancement (\(\text{NH}_3+\text H_3\text O^+\to\text{NH}_4^+\)) pour passer de pH 9 à 8 : \(\beta_{acide}=0{,}028\) mol. Côté basique (pH 9→10) : \(\beta_{basique}=0{,}050\) mol. La capacité est asymétrique hors de \(\text pK_A\).
Ex 19 — Capacité (\(\text{CH}_3\text{COOH}/\text{COO}^-\), \(\text pK_A=4{,}8\))
(1) 0,25 mol acide + 0,10 mol base (\(\text{pH}=4{,}4\), \(C=0{,}35\)) : par tableaux d'avancement \(\beta_{acide}=0{,}090\) mol, \(\beta_{basique}=0{,}18\) mol (asymétrique). (2) 0,175 mol de chaque (donc \(\text{pH}=\text pK_A\)) : \(\beta_{acide}=\beta_{basique}=0{,}143\) mol — symétrique et maximale à \(\text{pH}=\text pK_A\).
Partie J — Titrages acide fort / base forte
Ex 20 — Équation support

Ex 21 — Détermination de concentrations (\(C_1V_1=C_2V_2\) à l'équivalence)
(1) \(C_A=\frac{0{,}057\times12{,}7}{10}=0{,}072\) mol/L. (2) \(C_{soude}=\frac{0{,}1\times18{,}9}{20}=0{,}0945\), \(m=C\cdot V_f\cdot M=0{,}0945\times0{,}25\times40=0{,}945\) g. (3) surtitrage rattrapé : \(C_A=\frac{C_BV_B}{V_{A1}+V_{A2}}=\frac{0{,}2\times15{,}7}{13{,}1}=0{,}24\) mol/L. (4) \(C_B\in[0{,}067\,;\,0{,}10]\) mol/L pour \(V_{eq}\in[10\,;\,15]\) mL.
EC 28 — pH par morceaux (\(V_A=10\), \(C_A=C_B=0{,}10\))

EC 29 & Ex 22 — Méthode de l'électroneutralité (courbe complète)
Ions : \(\text H_3\text O^+,\text{HO}^-,\text{Na}^+,\text{Cl}^-\). Électroneutralité \([\text{Na}^+]+[\text H_3\text O^+]=[\text{Cl}^-]+[\text{HO}^-]\), avec \([\text{HO}^-]=K_e/h\) :
\[h^2+\alpha h-K_e=0,\quad \alpha=\frac{C_BV_B-C_AV_A}{V_A+V_B},\quad h=\frac{-\alpha+\sqrt{\alpha^2+4K_e}}{2}.\]Seule la racine \(+\) est physique (\(h>0\)). Ex 22 (titrage soude par HCl) : \(C_B=\frac{C_AV_{eq}}{V_B}=\frac{0{,}1\times13{,}7}{20}=68{,}5\cdot10^{-3}\) mol/L, même équation d'électroneutralité (rôles de A et B échangés).
Partie K — Titrages fort/faible
EC 30 — \(\text{CH}_3\text{COOH}\) par la soude (\(\text pK_A=4{,}8\), \(V_{eq}=12{,}4\) mL, \(C_B=0{,}050\))
\(\text{CH}_3\text{COOH}+\text{HO}^-\to\text{CH}_3\text{COO}^-+\text H_2\text O\). \(C_A=\frac{C_BV_{eq}}{V_A}=0{,}062\) mol/L. Initial (acide faible) : \(\text{pH}=\frac12(4{,}8-\log0{,}062)=3{,}0\). Demi-équiv. : \(\text{pH}=\text pK_A=4{,}8\). Équivalence (base faible \(c=\frac{C_AV_A}{V_A+V_{eq}}=0{,}028\)) : \(\text{pH}=7+\frac12(4{,}8-1{,}55)=8{,}6\).
Ex 23 — Base faible (NH₃) par HCl (\(\text pK_A=9{,}2\), \(V_B=50\), \(C_B=0{,}010\), \(C_A=0{,}04\))
\(\text{NH}_3+\text H_3\text O^+\to\text{NH}_4^+\). \(V_{eq}=\frac{C_BV_B}{C_A}=12{,}5\) mL. Initial (base faible) : \(\text{pH}=7+\frac12(9{,}2-2)=10{,}6\). Demi-équiv. : \(\text{pH}=\text pK_A=9{,}2\). Équivalence (acide faible \(c=\frac{C_BV_B}{V_B+V_{eq}}=8{,}0\cdot10^{-3}\)) : \(\text{pH}=\frac12(9{,}2-2{,}1)=5{,}6\).
EC 31 — \(\text pK_A\) d'un monoacide (lecture graphique)
\(\text pK_A=\text{pH}\) à la demi-équivalence (\(V_{eq}/2\)). Ici \(V_{eq}=8\) mL, \(\text pK_A=4{,}9\). Concentration initiale : \(c=10^{-2\text{pH}_0+\text pK_A}\). Si \(\text{pH}\to13\) au fort excès de base : \(C_B=10^{\text{pH}-14}=0{,}1\) mol/L.
Ex 24 — Acide fort vs faible
Même \(V_{eq}\) (mêmes concentrations). Fort : \(\text{pH}_0=1\), équiv. \(\text{pH}=7\). Faible (\(\text pK_A=5\)) : \(\text{pH}_0=3\), équiv. \(\text{pH}\approx9\).
Partie L — Polyacides
\(\text{HCO}_3^-\), \(\text pK_{A1}=6\) (\(\text H_2\text{CO}_3/\text{HCO}_3^-\)), \(\text pK_{A2}=10\) (\(\text{HCO}_3^-/\text{CO}_3^{2-}\)).
Titrage par HCl
\(\text{HCO}_3^-+\text H_3\text O^+\to\text H_2\text{CO}_3+\text H_2\text O\). \(C=\frac{C_AV_{eq}}{V_i}=\frac{0{,}1\times8{,}6}{20}=0{,}043\) mol/L. Initial (ampholyte) : \(\text{pH}=\frac12(6+10)=8\). Demi-équiv. : \(\text{pH}=\text pK_{A1}=6\). Équivalence (acide faible \(\text H_2\text{CO}_3\)) : \(\text{pH}=\frac12(\text pK_{A1}-\log\frac{CV_i}{V_i+V_{eq}})=3{,}8\).

EC 32 — Acide oxalique (1ʳᵉ acidité forte, 2ᵉ \(\text pK_A=4{,}27\), \(C=0{,}010\))
Supports : \(\text H_3\text O^++\text{HO}^-\to2\text H_2\text O\) puis \(\text{HC}_2\text O_4^-+\text{HO}^-\to\text C_2\text O_4^{2-}+\text H_2\text O\). Points : \(\text{pH}_0=-\log C=2\) ; 1ʳᵉ équiv. (acide faible, \(C/2\)) \(\text{pH}=\frac12(4{,}27+2{,}3)=3{,}3\) ; 2ᵉ demi-équiv. \(\text{pH}=\text pK_A=4{,}27\) ; 2ᵉ équiv. (base faible, \(C/3\)) \(\text{pH}=7+\frac12(4{,}27-2{,}5)=7{,}9\). Deux sauts.
EC 33 — Acide sulfurique (diacide fort)
Réactions successives \(\text{AH}_2+\text{HO}^-\to\text{AH}^-\) puis \(\text{AH}^-+\text{HO}^-\to\text A^{2-}\). \(\text pK_A\) lus aux demi-équivalences (ex. 2,2 et 6). À pH 4 = 1ʳᵉ équivalence (ampholyte \(\text{AH}^-\), \(\text{pH}=\frac12(\text pK_{A1}+\text pK_{A2})\)). pH initial et 2ᵉ équivalence cohérents avec les formules acide/base faibles.
Ex 28 — Mélange acide fort + acide faible (deux sauts inégaux)

Supports : \(\text H_3\text O^++\text{HO}^-\) puis \(\text{AH}+\text{HO}^-\). \(C_{AF}=\frac{C_BV_{e1}}{V_A}=0{,}050\), \(C_{Afaible}=\frac{C_BV_{e2}}{V_A}=0{,}086\) mol/L. \(\text pK_A=\text{pH}\) à la demi-équivalence de la 2ᵉ partie \(=4{,}8\). Milieu du 1ᵉʳ saut (acide fort neutralisé, reste l'acide faible) : \(\text{pH}=\frac12(4{,}8-\log0{,}086)=2{,}9\). Milieu du 2ᵉ saut (reste la base conjuguée) : \(\text{pH}=7+\frac12(4{,}8+\log0{,}086)=8{,}9\). Cohérents avec l'expérience.
